The 2021 Montenegrin Chess Champion Luka Draskovic yesterday earned the last needed norm to become a Grandmaster. He competed in the Grandmasters tournament in Cetinje, a part of the Montenegro Chess Festival, scoring unbeaten 6.5 points (4 victories and 5 draws) to win the third GM norm. Luka Draskovic is the 8th player in the country to have the most prestigious chess title. He is first Montenegrin player who became a grandmaster after 17 years, if not counting GM Denis Kadric who recently switched from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Montenegro Chess Federation, and became a grandmaster in 2015 while playing under the Bosnian flag. Both Draskovic and Kadric will represent Montenegro at the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai.
