Each category is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with round-robin system in the sections with less than 11 participants. More than 180 kids fight for the trophy with the winners qualifying for the European Youth Chess Championship 2022 and FIDE World Cadets and Youth Chess Championships 2022.

The event will be held in a 4* Hotel Bellevue, located in the national park of Vysoke Tatry, as the official hotel and the playing venue of the Championship.

The 19th European Individual Women’s Chess Championship is open to all players who represent the Chess Federations which are listed as the members of the European Chess Union, regardless on their title and FIDE rating. There is no limit of participants per federation. However, only the National federations shall send the applications.

The Championship will be played in 11 rounds, Swiss system, in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Rules of Chess with time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the move one.

Registration deadline is the 1st of March 2018

The European Individual Women’s Chess Championship  is a qualification event for the next World Women’s Chess Championship. According to the current FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 14 players will qualify.

The total prize fund of the event is 70.000 EUR.

European Amateur Chess Championship 2016 https://www.chessdom.com/european-amateur-chess-championship-2016/ Thu, 04 Feb 2016 08:50:48 +0000 http://www.chessdom.com/?p=56767 The European Amateur Chess Championship 2016 will be held in Ruzomberok, northern Slovakia, from June 5 (day of arrival) to June 12 (day of departure) 2016.

The tournament will be held in the „Sports hall Koniaren“, and the official accommodating hotel is Hotel Kultura.

The Championship is open to all players representing Chess Federations, which comprise the European Chess Union (FIDE zones 1.1 to 1.10), who have no FIDE title and no FIDE rating above 2000 at the start of the tournament (5 June 2016), nor have had such a rating for at least two years prior to the start of the event (that is 5 June 2014 and on). There is no limit of the number of participants per federation.

Hotel Kultura

A separate championship for women shall be organized if there are at least 10 women entries for this championship.

The tournament is played in a 9-round Swiss system, with the time control 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

The prize fund is 2 500 EUR.

The Championship is organized by Chess Club Prievidza, Chess Club Ruzomberok and Ruzomberok City, under the auspices of the European Chess Union.

The traditional team championship of Central Europe consisted of two Sections – Open and Women, played by round robin system.

The team of Hungary (GM Ruck Robert 2572, GM Acs Peter 2572, GM Hera Imre Jr. 2559, GM Szabo Krisztian 2543, GM Pinter Jozsef 2555) emerged a clear winner in the Men’s Section with 15 points, one point ahead of the runner-up. The second board player GM Peter Acs was the best player in the team, performing 2806 ELO with 8/9 points.

Germany (GM Baramidze David 2610, IM Heimann Andreas 2524, IM Svane Rasmus 2490, IM Berchtenbreiter Maximilian 2409) took the silver with 14 points, leaving the nearest follower full two points behind.

The hosts Slovakia A (GM Markos Jan 2599, GM Michalik Peter 2562, GM Petrik Tomas 2511, IM Jurcik Marian 2469, IM Mazur Stefan 2426) remained third with 12 points.

Italy prevailed in the Women Section. The team of IM Zimina Olga 2355, IM Sedina Elena 2297 and WIM Brunello Marina 2304 shared first place with the team of Germany (WIM Fuchs Judith 2304, WIM Osmanodja Filiz 2271) with 14 points each, full 3 points ahead of the bronze medalist.

Austria (WFM Exler Veronika 2156, WFM Novkovic Julia 2126, Hapala Lisa 2062) remained third with 11 points.

The following chess federations are entitled to take part in the Mitropa Cup 2014 competition: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia,
Slovenia and Switzerland.

Mitropa Cup is a team event for ten European federations which will be held in two sections, the open section and the women section, played by round robin system.

Each team consists of four players in the open section, two women in the women’s section. One reserve player is allowed in the team.

The results of this competition will be credited into the FIDE ELO rating list and it is possible to achieve international title norms. The players cannot agree a draw in less than 30 moves without permission of the arbiter.

Trophies will be awarded to the first three teams, individual prizes for the first players on the boards.

The Stiavnica’s Chess Festival took on 6th-14th July at the Cultural and public centre, Kammerhofská 1 (downtown), Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia.

The main event of the Festival was the V4 Open (9-round Swiss), which was also regarded as the 2013 Slovakian Chess Championship.

GM Peter Michalik edged the other local players on tie-break to claim the title of the Slovakian champion. Michalik shared the second place with 7,0/9 points and finished third overall.

IM Eva Repkova (6 points, 20th place) became the Slovakian women’s champion. Official website.

The Championship was managed by SSZ, Town and SK Banska Stiavnica, and was played as Open A and Open B.

The playing venue was the Cultural and public centre, Street Kammerhofská 1, Banská Štiavnica (near Hotel Grand-Matej). Total prize fund for all events is 8.260,- €.

Grandmaster Jan Markos took a clear first place with 7.5 points, half a point ahead of the colleagues Vlastimil Babula and Lubomir Ftacnik. Full standings for both groups are bellow.

Famous Grandmasters Sergei Movsesian and Zoltan Almasi held a simultaneous exhibition and played a blindfold game with live chessmen on the town square on 16th July (Almasi won).
